Public Health can be defined as the science and a way of preventing disease, promoting human health through collective efforts and create awareness of public health in the societies, organizations communities, and individuals. There are many public health initiatives taken worldwide in both developed and developing countries. The World Health Organization is the international agency that coordinates and manages global public health issues, thus the career scope in public health is huge worldwide. Public Health administration management course and program is relating to leadership, management, and administration of public health systems, health care systems, hospitals, and hospital networks. Health care administrators are considered health care professionals. There are two types of administrators, generalists and specialists. Generalists are individuals who are responsible for managing or helping to manage an entire facility. Biostatistics & Hospital and health information systems.
Demography: Basic principles, problems of population explosion, indices of fertility.
Health Administration & Health Planning management.
National Health Programs: Details of implementation and evaluation.
Hospital Management & Hospital Pharmacy.
Epidemiology of communicable and non-communicable disease.
Occupation health & Environmental health & Nutrition.
MCH and family welfare & Mental Health.
Genetics and heredity.
International health and regulation.
Public health laws.
Health education, communication process and methods, planning and organization of health education activities.
Voluntary health agencies and NGOs.
Entomology and Parasitology – vectors and parasites of public health importance.
Microbiology: Important diagnostic and screening tests, methods of collection and transportation of specimens and samples, vaccines.
Disinfection procedures & Public Health chemistry.
Public Health Laboratory service.
Interpretation and utilization of surveillance data for effective prevention and management of epidemics.
Carrying out investigation of outbreaks.
Organizing and conducting surveys as part of programme evaluation.
Organizing and conducting health care service campaigns such as national immunization days.
Formulation of strategies and organization of IEC activities at various levels from the district level to the periphery.
Acquiring clinical skills at the generalist level in relation to common health problems and MCH.
Acquiring skills to use computer as an aid to routine functions.
Entomology: Identification of common parasites and vector species, interpretation and use of water quality analysis kit.
